$100 Room Challenge Week 1: The Plan

Wednesday, September 5, 2018

It's here! It's finally here! I have been planning and scheming for weeks for this challenge and the day has finally come to reveal my plan for the $100 Room Challenge!

If you aren't familiar with this challenge- it is hosted by Erin at Lemons, Lavender and Laundry. The gist is you have one month to makeover one room for $100! The whole challenge is just for fun (aka no prize or anything) and to share your projects with other bloggers! I'm happy to say that this is my third official time participating in this challenge and I have some fun projects planned! You can check out my other challenges here- $100 Mudroom Makeover, $100 Powder Room Makeover (unofficial), $100 Office Makeover.

I will confess that it wasn't until yesterday that I even knew what room I was going to complete. I had been planning on making over our Living Room for this challenge and then decided last minute that my craft room was more in need of my love and attention than my living room.

So, let's get to it!

Here are a few before photos:

This room has great 'bones' but needs some TLC. In an ideal world I'd love to paint all of the cabinets in this room- but if I chose to do that I would most likely spend my entire budget on paint. So, I've decided to focus on other projects to bring this room together!

The plan:

  • Paint/Stencil/Wallpaper walls
  • DIY Pegboard
  • DIY Shelves and brackets
  • Budget Friendly organization
So, I am hoping to start by brightening up this space with some paint! Ideally, I'd like to paint the room white but I have not yet decided on a color. Next, I hope to make one wall a pegboard wall to organize some of my smaller crafting tools and keep them in plain site (versus a drawer). On the other wall I'd like to make large shelves that I can store my Cricut when not in use (to save counter space) as well as some other larger crafting tools. Then, I'd like to focus on finding budget friendly solutions for organizing these drawers- anything and everything ends up down here in this room so organization is key to keep it clean! There are a few other things I have up my sleeve for this challenge but i'd like to keep some of it a surprise :)

I am so excited to get started! And so pumped to give this room the attention it has been deserving!

As always, Thank you for visiting R&R at home!
