Semi-DIY Boxwood Christmas Banner

Thursday, November 9, 2017

How many of you have ever watched an episode of Semi-Homemade Cooking with Sandra Lee? Well this is kind of like that except with DIY projects! Haha! This was such a fun, easy DIY project to use anywhere in your home!

I am not typically one to decorate our bedrooms for the holidays but I felt inspired this year to test my skills. I am not sure if was a result of seeing so many gorgeous bedrooms decorated for the holidays on Instagram (you can follow me here) or simply because I was feeling bored with the rest of my decor but I felt up to a challenge. It's no secret that I am on a tight budget since leaving my full time job to stay home with my son- so I knew I couldn't go crazy in this room and had to stick with items we already had or purchase small items.

If you are not familiar with Target's Dollar Spot (actually called the 'One Spot') then you need to go to your local Target NOW and check it out because it is full of holiday goodies! I scored this plaid banner and a roll of faux boxwood garland (at least that's what I'm calling it) and decided to combine the two for a fun Christmas banner to add to our bed.

What you will need:

  • Plaid banner
  • Faux boxwood
  • Glue Gun
  • Scissors

The first things you are going to do it measure and cut the greenery to fit on the plaid banner. I chose to layer it twice.

Then, I simply used a glue gun to adhere the wreath to the banner.

You guys, that was it! Easy peasy!

The thing I love about this is that it stays on the bed- it's not a pillow that gets moved all the time- so the decor it up even when I don't feel like making the bed, haha!

How have you added holiday decor to your bedroom? Share with me in the comments below!
