$100 Room Challenge Week 2: 50 Shades of Greige

Wednesday, January 10, 2018

I'm sure the title of this post has been way overused in the last several years but it's just such a good pun! I wish I had more to bring you this week but the truth is that I had a pretty busy week/week-end and was not able to accomplish as much as I was hoping before this week's update of the $100 Room Challenge. I plan to make up for it this weekend though!

If you missed Week 1 of this challenge you can find it here. I am turning our dining room into an office space for the $100 Room Challenge hosted by Erin at Lemon's Lavender & Laundry. This week was all about paint. I set out to find the best greige color to use on the walls. I wanted a color with very little undertone (a true neutral) that could be used in this room as well as the playroom that I am making over for the New Year New Room Refresh challenge (I know, I'm nuts). I admit that picking paint is not my forte so I asked some of my favorite friends on Instagram to send suggestions (you can follow me here). I received tons of suggestions and I wanted to share them with you! It seems that everyone has their own opinion on what they consider to be the very best greige color. In the end, it came down to three color choices (pictured below).

A. Revere Pewter (Benjamin Moore)
B. Wheat Bread (Behr)
C. Edgecomb Gray (Benjamin Moore)

I wanted to share all of the colors that were suggested to me- just in case you are in the market for a greige!

Revere Pewter | Light French | Mega Greige
Agreeable Gray | Balboa Mist | Anew Gray
Wheat Bread | Gray Owl | Ammonite
So, what did I end up with? I chose Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore. Money Saving Tip: I had Home Depot color match a gallon of their Glidden Premium Paint + Primer ($18). This saved me well over $15 and in a challenge such as this every penny counts!

I got a little ahead of myself and moved furniture around before painting so I am already using this space as an office and LOVING the change! I cannot wait to share this full reveal in a few weeks. For sneak peeks, you can check out my Instagram Stories. I share a lot of laughs along the way! Also, be sure to check out all of the other bloggers participating in the challenge (linked below)!

  3. Finding a perfect Greige is so tough. What looks good in one home sometimes doesn't look good in our own, but it seems that once you find the perfect gray for your house, you never look back :)

  4. Where are the other greiges from? What brand? I’m going paint shopping today and I need a good true greige ... if that’s a thing. The rest of my house is beige but new couches are Grey with (hints of brown) so I want a grey that will go with the rest of my beige walls.
