$100 Room Challenge- The Plan
Thursday, January 4, 2018
I am not normally excited for January but this year is different because this year January means a new round of the $100 Room Makeover challenge! This challenge is hosted by Erin at Lemons, Lavender & Laundry.
I went back and forth deciding which room to makeover but ended up deciding to makeover our dining room by turning it into an office space. Our current office is being taken over by a 2 foot tall human to create a space for him to play. Which also means that I am making over that space as well! I wish I could say you're getting a 'twofer' but in reality I am simply participating in two room makeovers in the month of January. I wanted to be able to splurge a little on the little's playroom so I am actually going to be documenting those changes as part of the 'New Year New Room Refresh Challenge'.
Needless to say, it is going to be a busy month but that doesn't bother me one bit since this time of year can be cold and slow. The perfect combination to give any SAHM a little cabin fever.
Anyway, it's Week 1 of this challenge and I am sharing my plans with you! I'm luck to have a few staple pieces for this makeover since we are simply moving furniture but I have a few extra plans too!
Here is what this room currently looks like.
Paint
I am hoping to find the perfect 'greige' wall color that I can use on both the office and playroom (money saver!). I have had a few fails this year picking paint so I am open to suggestions if you have a beige wall color that works for you! This paint will be in spaces with a ton of light and I prefer it not have too much of a yellow undertone. Right now, I am going back and forth between 'Accessible Beige' by Sherwin Williams and 'Revere Pewter' by Benjamin Moore.
Furniture
I have most of the major pieces for this room already including this amazing antique roll top desk that was my grandfathers. I have a chair that goes with it that I hope to revamp or replace (I'm dreaming of this upholstered piece pictured above). I also hope to find to fill these ladder shelves that we have with some organizing accessories to help keep paper clutter at bay. Lastly, it'd be amazing to find at least one sitting chair for this room but that would have to be a MAJOR thifting find. I did see two leather chairs at the curb the other day that I'm pinching myself for not picking up.
Accessories
I have a few fun ideas for accessorizing this room including adding lots of different types of bins and baskets for storage to organize (and hide) all the paper clutter that builds up. I also hope to accessorize those ladder shelves with some thrifted books and picture frames (I see myself spending a lot of time at GoodWill this month). Lastly, I hope I am able to find a rug that ties this whole room together.
I am so excited to get started on this room makeover! Check back every Wednesday this month for updates! Also, be sure to check out all of the other bloggers participating in this challenge!
As always, Thank you for visiting R&R at home!

This dining room is going to be a great project! I like Anew Gray by SW, but it might be too gray for you. It's a nice warm gray, so it works with beige. Can't wait to see how your room turns out!
ReplyDeleteLove your plans and can't wait to follow along!
ReplyDeleteWow, lots of space and a great place for your office. I love a good greige color for the walls and am looking forward to seeing the finished look.
