$100 Room Challenge Week 1: Vision Board

Friday, September 6, 2019

I am so excited to be back participating in another $100 Room Challenge! I'm a wee bit late to the party because I wasn't sure I was going to have a room to makeover- we just moved into a new-to-us house and between moving and un-packing I thought this challenge just may be too soon. Then inspiration struck as I was scrolling through Instagram the other day and here we are!

Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4 | Reveal

I am excited about this makeover because it reminds me of my first ever $100 Room Challenge that I completed in our last house! I don't know what it is about really dark powder rooms but they seem to follow me 😂! I feel like powder rooms are a great space to start a makeover in a new home because they are small enough that little changes can make a big impact and they get the creativity ball rolling!

Let's take a look at the before of this space:

Soooo dark!

My design for this space was completely inspired by the custom wallpaper/sponge paint craze I am seeing pop up all over! I knew I wanted to try this technique somewhere in the new house but wasn't sure where until recently. I plan to do this technique on one wall (behind mirror) and simply brighten up the other walls with a coat of paint.

I plan to update the existing vanity using a fun color by Fusion Mineral Paint that I have never tried- Lichen! I am so excited to try this color! I think it is really going to freshen up this space!

I also have a fun DIY light fixture already in the works- here is my inspiration!

Mata 2-Light Vanity Light

I plan to scour Marketplace and Goodwill for a cheap mirror. The truth is the one that is in there isn't awful but I feel like mirrors in bathrooms can be blah or BAM! and I am going for BAM! This could go one of two ways- I would love something with clean lines or something really funky and unique- it depends what the thrifting gods will send my way this month.

Gold Rounded Rectangle Metal Wall Mirror

This design is unlike anything I have ever done... I can feel my style and tastes changing but I am just not ready to change everything in my house. When I get that itch- that is when I test out new styles in bathrooms. I feel like they are a safe place to have fun with design because they are easily changeable!

Feel free to check out all of the other bloggers participating in this challenge! It is going to be a fun month of creativity and budget decor ideas that you don't want to miss!
