Entryway Mood Board

Wednesday, August 9, 2017

'Hello! Welcome to my home!' That is what every entryway should say.... right? Well, my current entryway is not very 'welcoming'. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I have spider webs greeting guests but its just so... blah. So, I have decided to take on another challenge and give my entryway a fun makeover for under $100!

The first thing I want to add is a nice coat rack or hook system. I have shied away from doing this until now because we have a mud room at the back of the house that we always use to hang coats, purses etc. However, since having a baby, and having tons of guests, I have realized that not everyone will come into our house through the mudroom and coats have ended up on our stairs so it would be helpful to have a few hooks in the front of the house for guests to use! I like the idea of this coat rack having some sort of shelf on top for display purposes but have yet to find one that will fit. The one pictured above is from Hobby Lobby but it just a tad too wide for the wall we are looking to put this on. So, I may have to turn to my DIY skills and make one myself. Either way, I know I want to incorporate some retro iron hooks.

I have always toyed around with the idea of painting the backside of our front door but have never been sure what color would be best. I was inspired by Sarah at Life on Virginia Street who recently updated her entryway using a fresh coat of paint (check it out here). I think this may be a nice way to update this space on a dime.

Last, but certainly not least, is getting rid of this 'boob' light, as they've been aptly nick-named, and replacing it with something more pleasing to the eye. This is going to be the biggest challenge to keep under budget. I may be doing some thrifting or craigslist shopping for this one.

How have you updated your entryway on a budget? Let me know in the comments below!

As always, thank you for visiting {R&R} at home!
