Mood Board- Open Shelving

Saturday, August 1, 2015

This is my first attempt at an Inspiration post or a 'mood board'. You see, I've been thinking dreaming about a kitchen with all open shelving. As surprising as it sounds my kitchen is one of the places I am the most organized (not on purpose I might add... I just have to be in such a small space) so I feel like I could get away with it. My plan scheme is to convert only one of my cabinets to open shelving which I am thinking of adding above our 'coffee' station.

So here goes nothing!

I want to start with this amazing kitchen reno that I found via Instagram after the author, Tanya, liked one of my photos! I just love that this was a simple and economical way to update the space (and I am loving the color scheme).

I absolutely cannot leave out this amazing transformation from one of the best HGTV shows around Fixer-Upper (Shout out to my wonderful M-I-L Debi for turning me on to this show)! I LOVE everything about this open shelving and the kitchen in general; the rustic wood and metal, the white cabinets, black hardware, white subway tile backsplash and marble countertops. And that vent hood? Amazing. Can I just move in?

Since I am looking to convert only one cabinet I love this idea! Very similar to the Fixer Upper kitchen above but only removing one cabinet! I also LOVE the grey lower cabinets. I wish I had the guts to do this in my own kitchen!

One of my favorite kitchen reno's of all time features open shelving in a new, trending way where the cabinet doors are taken off and the shelves are simply exposed. Also, one of my favorite things Beth does is change out the dishes/decor in these cabinets for each holiday!

I have also been toying around with the idea to simply update our existing cabinet doors to glass front doors. I found this awesome DIY tutorial here (I see a trip to home depot in the near future)!

Still trying to figure out exactly how I want to in incorporate open shelving into my kitchen but this is just what has inspired me so far. I always say that if you want to know what my next project is just check out what i'm pinning on Pinterest, haha (follow me here).

What do you think? Is this something you would do/have done in your own home? Share with me in the comments below!
