Dollar Store Topiaries

Wednesday, May 23, 2018

I so wish I could keep plants alive for longer than a month (5 weeks is actually my record!) but it's just not the case. I'm a faux plant lady all the way! So, when I saw these topiaries gaining popularity I knew I was going to have to either find some a faux pair I loved or make them myself.

Kitchen Reno Mood Board

Tuesday, May 15, 2018

As you know, our bathroom makeover that we completed as part of the One Room Challenge recently came to a close, leaving me feel anxious with nothing to look forward to. So, I decided to put together a little bucket list of things I wanted to get done this summer. One of those things includes a budget kitchen reno, or a facelift if you will.

Summer Bucket List

Monday, May 7, 2018

I know you've heard of a bucket list for life but I wanted to put one together for a list of DIY's I want to get done this summer. I seem to be the most content when I'm busy or have something to look forward to... if that even makes sense. I basically hate to sit still (except if it's guilty pleasure TV time which is currently bingeing Shameless on Netflix!) so busy is my version of content.

One Room Challenge Week 5: DIY Faux Shiplap

Wednesday, May 2, 2018

It's here, it's here! My DIY Faux Shiplap tutorial! And let me tell you- while this project was budget friendly- it was quite the feat. I would still consider my husband and I newbie DIY'ers and this was probably the most in depth project we have completed together and I'm impressed we got through it in one piece!

Happy Blogiversary- A look back at my blogging journey!

Tuesday, May 1, 2018

I recently had the sweetest Instagram friend reach out to me requesting some insight into how I got started blogging. I was so humbled that she reached out and at first a little nervous to put myself out there in this way because I still consider myself a newcomer to all things blogging but she encouraged me to share my blogging journey from one beginner to another! So, in honor of R&R at home turning THREE on April 29th (I'm a few days late) I wanted to share a little blogiversary post with y'all!

One Room Challenge Week 4: DIY Towel Rack

Thursday, April 26, 2018

I feel like I should start this post with 'womp wompppppp' because I fully intended on bringing you a Faux Shiplap tutorial but life happened and we weren't able to complete our shiplap wall in time. I also did not want to rush this process because rushing can lead to mistakes and this is one wall I don't want to mess up! So, I'm bringing you a tutorial on how to make a Farmhouse style towel rack!

One Room Challenge Week 3: Bathroom Vanity Install

Thursday, April 19, 2018

Welcome to Week 3 of the One Room Challenge! This week brought a whole new meaning to the word 'challenge' as we did our first ever bathroom vanity install. If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen my stories this weekend that talked all about a major issue we had with installing the sink top on this vanity. I'll save you the nitty gritty details but I'll just say that we spent the whole weekend driving back and forth to Ikea due to defective products. The good news? Our vanity is installed and I LOVE it! And it was a relatively simple project that I wish I had done right when we moved in!

One Room Challenge Week 2: Bathroom Vanities on a Budget

Wednesday, April 11, 2018

Welcome to Week 2 of the One Room Challenge! This weekend threw me for a loop- our little one came down with something and had a fever all weekend which meant no projects, but lots of cuddles! I was planning on installing our vanity in the guest bathroom this weekend to bring you an amateur's guide to plumbing but we got very little work done in this room so I'm bringing you a list of the best bathroom vanities on a budget!

One Room Challenge Week 1: Guest Bathroom Mood Board

Friday, March 30, 2018

It's almost April which means... TAX RETURN TIME! We nearly always put our tax return into savings but this year we have a different plan. You see, our guest bathroom is in major need of some TLC. We live in a relatively new house so it's not as if we need to do a major renovation, it's really more of cosmetic changes that are needed. It's been a while since I've created a mood board so I figured I'd give it a go!

What's In My Toddler's Easter Basket

Tuesday, March 27, 2018

I may be the worst Mom ever but I did not have an Easter basket prepared for my son's first Easter last year. I honestly had zero clue what to put in an Easter basket for a 1 month old. So, I'm making up for it this year with a fun toddler Easter basket and on a budget of course! The whole basket cost less than $25!

How To Age Galvanized Metal

Sunday, March 25, 2018

I know we've all heard of the 'Ikea hack' but what about the 'Target Dollar Spot hack'. Maybe it doesn't roll off the tongue as easily but i'm officially making it a thing with today's post! I was recently wandering the aisles of my happy place aka Target when I came across this adorable metal watering can. I plopped it in my card and took her home with me to be displayed in our entryway. After walking past it a few times I felt it looked too new so I decided to try my hand at aging metal!

How to Make Custom Map Art

Walmart Time and Tru Collection: A few faves!

Tuesday, March 13, 2018

Hey there! I was putting my little down for a nap this morning and scrolling the internet like I always do when I came across Walmart's website and noticed a banner promoting their new clothing line for women called Time and Tru! Shopping for clothes has kind of been a no go for me lately because we are on such a tight budget. I may find the occasional sale item but getting a new spring/summer wardrobe was really not in the budget- until now! I am so pumped to go see what I can put together for less than $100!

Gift Guide For Him + a GIVEAWAY!

Friday, March 9, 2018

This post is sponsored by JORD watches.

I am all about testing out new topics here on R&R at home recently! Today, I am talking all about gifts for him! I recently had the idea to surprise my husband with a gift for our son turning one as a 'Thank you' for all that he does that has allowed me to stay at home this year! It got me thinking about what to get him? With Easter coming up and Father's Day not far behind I thought it would be a fun time to share some ideas with you for what to put in your man's Easter basket! These ideas can be for your Hubby, Broski, Padre, Gramps, you name it (err.. him)! This is a universal gift guide for any man in your life!

A Birth Story

Monday, March 5, 2018

July 3rd, 2016. I remember the day like it was yesterday. There I was, sitting in my bathroom staring down at yet another pregnancy test. At this point I had probably peed on well over 200 tests (I don't even want to add up how much I spent on those things). This time I waited. I waited the full two weeks. And here I was. The day of my missed period and something felt different. But didn't it always? I was hosting a girls weekend with a few friends from college and had just finished a margarita because surely I wasn't pregnant. After nearly two years of trying I was exhausted. This was honestly the first month that I was too busy to devote every waking second to hoping. My sister was visiting for a month from Mexico and we had two family weddings. So, I was just busy enough to keep my mind off of what I had been hoping and praying for. I assumed it would be another month of no's. But there I was in my bathroom staring down at that little plastic stick watching it saturate. And there it was. The line. It was there. It was clear. I. was. PREGNANT! The next few minutes were a joyful blur. I screamed for my husband and everyone in the house knew what that meant. We both stared at the test, cried and had a private moment of pure joy. I hope I never, ever forget that moment in that bathroom.

How To Add Numbers To Your Stairs Without Paint!

Wednesday, February 7, 2018

You may have seen a lot of other bloggers posting about their word of the year for 2018. I didn't choose my word of the year but I feel like it's chosen me and I'm running with it. What is that word, you ask? Git'rdun. Yes, I made it up. Most of the time you hear that as a phrase but I made it a word for the purposes of this post, haha!

DIY Bead Chandelier

$100 Room Challenge: Office Reveal!

Wednesday, January 31, 2018

Welcome to REVEAL week for the $100 Room Challenge hosted by Erin at Lemons, Lavender & Laundry! I am so excited to share my new office with you! I will admit that I was skeptical about giving up my dining room for an office for a few reasons but mostly that I am terrible with change. I can now say this was one of the best decisions I have made in this house! Not only do we actually use this space now but my home just feels more lived in and just more R&R.

New Year New Room Refresh: Playroom Reveal!

Tuesday, January 30, 2018

I think this was the most fun I have ever had doing a room makeover! I am not sure if it was the fun of putting together a child's playroom or the simplistic nature of the design but watching this room come together was such a treat!

$100 Room Challenge Week 4: DIY Old School Covered Books

Thursday, January 25, 2018

Welcome to Week 4 of the $100 Room Challenge hosted by Erin at Lemons, Lavender & Laundry. In Week 1, I presented my plan for this makeover. In Week 2, I rounded up my favorite greige paint colors and last week I shared the best area rugs under $100. If you are unfamiliar with this challenge, those participating have one month to make over one room for less than $100. This week I have been working on the finishing touches for my dining room turned office makeover by styling these ladder shelves I stole from our living room. As you know, most of my budget went to paint and a new rug so I had to get creative with the decor I am using in this space!

DIY Oversized Chalkboard

Wednesday, January 24, 2018

I am so excited to share this week's project for the New Year New Room Refresh Challenge! If you've been following along then you know we are turning our old office into a playroom. In Week 1, I shared my vision for this room. In Week 2, I shared how I created these Land of Nod inspired storage bins. This week, I am bringing you another fun DIY project- an oversized chalkboard! What playroom couldn't use a fun chalkboard for your littles to create on?!

$100 Room Challenge Week 3: Best Rugs Under $100

Wednesday, January 17, 2018

It's that time again... $100 Room Challenge update day! If you are just tuning in you can catch up on Week 1 and Week 2 here. When I have done this challenge in the past it has been a lot easier to bring you helpful updates every week because I was working on so many DIY projects. This time, I was thrown off by the need for a new large area rug so most of my budget was spent there. I have been lucky that in all of my other $100 Room Makeovers I have not run into an issue such as this, causing me to blow my budget. So, while I thought about dropping out of the challenge, I also realized that sometimes these things happen in budget makeovers. When I realized I was going to need a new large area rug (8' by 10') I did do a lot of research to find the best resources to purchase large area rugs at my price point. So, this week I am bringing you a list of my favorite area rugs under $100.

DIY Land of Nod Inspired Storage Bins

Wednesday, January 10, 2018

I am always looking for things to DIY for a fraction of the cost. When I saw these storage bins from Land of Nod I knew that they would be the perfect first DIY project to tackle for my sons playroom for Week 2 of the New Year New Room Refresh Challenge!

$100 Room Challenge Week 2: 50 Shades of Greige

I'm sure the title of this post has been way overused in the last several years but it's just such a good pun! I wish I had more to bring you this week but the truth is that I had a pretty busy week/week-end and was not able to accomplish as much as I was hoping before this week's update of the $100 Room Challenge. I plan to make up for it this weekend though!

Office Turned Playroom- New Year New Room Refresh

Thursday, January 4, 2018

In my last post you saw how I plan to transform our dining room into a functional office space for the $100 Room Challenge. Today, I would like to share how I am going to be transforming our old office into a Kid's playroom for the New Year New Room Refresh Challenge!
