Gift Guide For Him + a GIVEAWAY!
Friday, March 9, 2018
This post is sponsored by JORD watches.
I am all about testing out new topics here on R&R at home recently! Today, I am talking all about gifts for him! I recently had the idea to surprise my husband with a gift for our son turning one as a 'Thank you' for all that he does that has allowed me to stay at home this year! It got me thinking about what to get him? With Easter coming up and Father's Day not far behind I thought it would be a fun time to share some ideas with you for what to put in your man's Easter basket! These ideas can be for your Hubby, Broski, Padre, Gramps, you name it (err.. him)! This is a universal gift guide for any man in your life!
A Birth Story
Monday, March 5, 2018
July 3rd, 2016. I remember the day like it was yesterday. There I was, sitting in my bathroom staring down at yet another pregnancy test. At this point I had probably peed on well over 200 tests (I don't even want to add up how much I spent on those things). This time I waited. I waited the full two weeks. And here I was. The day of my missed period and something felt different. But didn't it always? I was hosting a girls weekend with a few friends from college and had just finished a margarita because surely I wasn't pregnant. After nearly two years of trying I was exhausted. This was honestly the first month that I was too busy to devote every waking second to hoping. My sister was visiting for a month from Mexico and we had two family weddings. So, I was just busy enough to keep my mind off of what I had been hoping and praying for. I assumed it would be another month of no's. But there I was in my bathroom staring down at that little plastic stick watching it saturate. And there it was. The line. It was there. It was clear. I. was. PREGNANT! The next few minutes were a joyful blur. I screamed for my husband and everyone in the house knew what that meant. We both stared at the test, cried and had a private moment of pure joy. I hope I never, ever forget that moment in that bathroom.
How to Upgrade Your Stairs Without Paint!

You may have seen a lot of other bloggers posting about their word of the year for 2018. I didn't choose my word of the year but I feel like it's chosen me and I'm running with it. What is that word, you ask? Git'rdun. Yes, I made it up. Most of the time you hear that as a phrase but I made it a word for the purposes of this post, haha!

$100 Room Challenge Week 4: DIY Old School Covered Books
Thursday, January 25, 2018
Welcome to Week 4 of the $100 Room Challenge hosted by Erin at Lemons, Lavender & Laundry. In Week 1, I presented my plan for this makeover. In Week 2, I rounded up my favorite greige paint colors and last week I shared the best area rugs under $100. If you are unfamiliar with this challenge, those participating have one month to make over one room for less than $100. This week I have been working on the finishing touches for my dining room turned office makeover by styling these ladder shelves I stole from our living room. As you know, most of my budget went to paint and a new rug so I had to get creative with the decor I am using in this space!
DIY Oversized Chalkboard
Wednesday, January 24, 2018
I am so excited to share this week's project for the New Year New Room Refresh Challenge! If you've been following along then you know we are turning our old office into a playroom. In Week 1, I shared my vision for this room. In Week 2, I shared how I created these Land of Nod inspired storage bins. This week, I am bringing you another fun DIY project- an oversized chalkboard! What playroom couldn't use a fun chalkboard for your littles to create on?!
$100 Room Challenge Week 3: Best Rugs Under $100
Wednesday, January 17, 2018
It's that time again... $100 Room Challenge update day! If you are just tuning in you can catch up on Week 1 and Week 2 here. When I have done this challenge in the past it has been a lot easier to bring you helpful updates every week because I was working on so many DIY projects. This time, I was thrown off by the need for a new large area rug so most of my budget was spent there. I have been lucky that in all of my other $100 Room Makeovers I have not run into an issue such as this, causing me to blow my budget. So, while I thought about dropping out of the challenge, I also realized that sometimes these things happen in budget makeovers. When I realized I was going to need a new large area rug (8' by 10') I did do a lot of research to find the best resources to purchase large area rugs at my price point. So, this week I am bringing you a list of my favorite area rugs under $100.
DIY Land of Nod Inspired Storage Bins
Wednesday, January 10, 2018
I am always looking for things to DIY for a fraction of the cost. When I saw these storage bins from Land of Nod I knew that they would be the perfect first DIY project to tackle for my sons playroom for Week 2 of the New Year New Room Refresh Challenge!
I'm sure the title of this post has been way overused in the last several years but it's just such a good pun! I wish I had more to bring you this week but the truth is that I had a pretty busy week/week-end and was not able to accomplish as much as I was hoping before this week's update of the $100 Room Challenge. I plan to make up for it this weekend though!

DIY Casa Beads (+Jute Tassels)
Saturday, December 16, 2017
If you're like me then you spend way too many hours a day scrolling through Instagram. You may even make a small purchase or two with the perfect photo in mind to add to your collection of squares. When these casa beads started to pop up everywhere I was a little confused at what they were and what their purpose was and I tried my hardest not to want them. Well, yesterday, I gave in and made a mini version! Haha. What's that saying... If you can't beat em', join em'?
DIY Rustic Holiday Buckets
Sunday, December 3, 2017
Everything new is old again! Maybe that's not how the original saying goes but it fits with today's DIY project! When I saw these rustic holiday buckets pop up all over Instagram I instantly fell in love and wanted them to add to this year's porch to tie in with my rustic theme (full reveal coming soon). Then I saw the $80 price tag and my jaw literally dropped. In years past, I may have closed my eyes and hit order and then tell the delivery person to hide the package from my husband, but this year spending over $100 on rustic buckets just wasn't in the SAHM budget. So, I set out to DIY these!

DIY Cascading Garland
Monday, November 6, 2017
'Christmas Tiiime is here.... happiness and cheer'. That's right, y'all... The Christmas season has officially begun in our house! It doesn't take long after Halloween ends for me to feel the itch to start decorating for Christmas. I know the world is divided into a) those who decorate early for Christmas and b) grinches. Haha, Just kidding! I know a lot of people prefer to wait until after Turkey Day to bust out their trees and twinkle lights and that is TOTALLY okay! But this girl likes the extra month to cherish the Christmas decor.

Trash to Treasure Tuesday- Dresser Makeover
Tuesday, October 10, 2017
This post is sponsored by Fusion Mineral Paint but all thoughts and opinions are my own!
You guys! I am so excited to be sharing my first ever official Trash to Treasure Transformation (oh my gosh the alliteration!). Not only is this the first time I am officially posting this type of project it is also my first time ever using a chalk like paint! Shocking, I know! Isn't it like a rite of passage for all bloggers to paint something with chalk paint? Well I guess I've officially made it then, folks! Ha. Not quite!
DIY Floating Witch Hats
Monday, October 9, 2017
I am so excited for the Halloween season to begin! Halloween really feels like the beginning of the holiday season which is my absolute favorite time of the year! I love everything about fall from the pumpkin spice flavors to clear blue skies and rainbow colors of changing leaves. Maybe a little bit of me loves fall because once Halloween is over it's pretty much Christmas time in my books (this is a moment I will say #sorrynotsorry). Of course we still celebrate Thanksgiving... we just do it with Christmas decor up! No shame in my holiday decorating game.
